BEST SMARTWATCH FOR TODDLERS

VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX

No products found.

VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX is the original smartwatch for toddlers. This smartwatch has fun games, activities, a video camera, a voice recorder, an alarm clock, a calculator, and a voice changer. It’s easy to see why it is one of the most popular and best telling smartwatches for toddlers.

The motion sensor lets your toddler know it time to start moving, encouraging them to stay active. I know that’s not a problem we have, it is quite the opposite. We need something to tell him to sit done for a few minutes, but that’s the life of parents with a toddler.

The watch face is customizable with the option to change from digital to analog to help your toddler learn how to tell time. Honestly, this smartwatch is perfect for toddlers as young as 3 to big kids up to age 9.

Pros

  • Games
  • Easy to use
  • Customizable
  • Features
  • Battery life
  • Video camera

Cons

  • Not water-resistant
  • No GPS
  • No parental control

LeapFrog LeapBand

No products found.

The LeapFrog LeapBand is different from any other smartwatch on our list because the focus is learning through play. In this regard, I wouldn’t call it a smartwatch, but more so a toy watch that encourages activity and learning.

50 challenges encourage your toddler to stay active with one of eight customizable pets. The pets interact with your little one and made activity time even more fun. They also help unlock rewards, so movement becomes a game. The more you move, the more you are rewarded.

Since it is a watch there is a time display in both digital and analog views, to help your toddler learn how to tell time. There is a free app you can download for even more fun games. A bonus is that this smartwatch for toddlers is waterproof, but I recommend removing for bathtime or in the pool.

Pros

  • Water-resistant
  • Durable
  • Challenges
  • Activities
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Bulky
  • Battery life
  • Initial setup
  • Not touchscreen

MeritSoar Kids Smartwatch

No products found.

The MeritSoar Kids Smartwatch is the second most popular smartwatch for toddlers. This smartwatch has two-way communication, an audio player, a voice recorder, games, and a camera.

A 1 GB micro SD card is included, so you don’t need to purchase an extra one. If you want to add more memory, this smartwatch is compatible with a micro SD card up to 126 GB.

For parents looking to use the two-way communication and SOS calling features you will need to purchase a SIM card with a data plan. Remember this watch only supports 2G, so it may take some time to find a service that still supports the smartwatch. At this time Speedtalk is the only carrier that still operates 2G.

Pros

  • Features
  • SOS call
  • Games

Cons

  • No parental controls
  • Additional setup (Speedtalk)

iTouch Wearables Batman Smartwatch

No products found.

I had to include the iTouch Wearables Batman Smartwatch for toddlers that love their superhero. There are more heroes to choose from, which includes Spiderman and Superman. Don’t worry, there are other designs available that aren’t a superhero.

The features this watch offers are a camera, calendar, alarm, stopwatch, timer, and different superhero-themed backgrounds. The swivel camera makes it easy for your toddler to take pictures and videos. You can store up to 50 photos, before needing to export them to a computer via USB.

Pros

  • Games
  • Easy to use
  • Lightweight
  • Features

Cons

  • No activity tracker
  • Not water resistant

Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch

Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch

The Themoemoe Kids Smartwatch is the only smartwatch on our list that has every major feature. This kids smartwatch has a GPS locator, two-way calling, SOS calling, water-proof, parental controls, and do not disturb mode.

The GPS locator is not as accurate as our smartphones, but they are accurate within 0.25 to 4 miles. Remember, you are using 2G for this device, not the 4G that we are used to using these days.

Not only is this a hit for parents this watch has cool features such as a calculator, camera, photo album, and games. This smartwatch will be a hit for any toddler.

  • Features
  • Parental control

The parental control setting can limit the time your toddler spends playing games on their smartwatch. I wouldn’t recommend this smartwatch for toddlers under 4 or 5 years old, depending on their experience with technology.

Pros

  • Features
  • Easy to use
  • Photo quality
  • Parental controls
  • Large memory

Cons

  • Not water-resistant

BEST SMARTWATCH FOR KIDS

BAUISAN Kids Smartwatch

No products found.

I’m sure you noticed based on our chart that the BAUISAN Kids Smartwatch is our favorite smartwatch for kids. This watch has everything your kids will need at an affordable price.

The features on this kids’ smartwatch are unbelievable. It has two-way calling functionality, alarm clock, camera, music, flashlight, recorder, calculator, and an SOS button. How can they pack all of this into a smartwatch for kids for less than $60? Your answer is as good as mine, that is why we consider this the best smartwatch for kids.

Keep in mind to use the two-way calling you will need to purchase a SIM card that works with 2G. The most well-known carrier in the US is Speedtalk if you plan to use the calling features. This is a minor issue, but it would be great if there were more color options available.

Honestly, it was hard for me to come up with anything I didn’t like about this smartwatch for kids.

Pros

  • Features
  • Games
  • SOS Funtion
  • Two-way calling (SIM required)
  • Parental controls

Cons

  • 2G service
  • Limited color options

VTech KidiZoom Smartwatch DX2

VTech KidiZoom Smartwatch DX2

The VTech KidiZoom Smartwatch DX2 is the most popular smartwatch for kids. VTech is one of my favorite brands for all things technology for toddlers. They have smartphones, cameras, and smartwatches for kids, that are not only fun, but they also help them learn.

This smartwatch is an upgrade from the one listed above because it has dual cameras, more games, and video capability. If you are looking for a smartwatch for kids that offers fun, activity reminders, and learning games, then this is the smartwatch for you.

There is a pedometer for your kids to keep track of their steps. You can set the smartwatch to remind your kids to move. I love this feature because it seems like kids are not as active as we were growing up.

This smartwatch is exclusive, which means you can only purchase it online via Amazon. There is also an exclusive color (camo) that is only available if you buy through Amazon. Exclusive does not mean there are additional features or functionality.

Pros

  • Dual camera
  • Photo & video effects
  • High storage capacity
  • Changeable wristband
  • Video function

Cons

  • Sound on video
  • Lack of color options

Garmin Vívofit Jr 2

Garmin Vívofit Jr 2

The Garmin Vívofit Jr 2 is a fitness band, as opposed to a smartwatch because I thought at least one fitness bans should be included on our list.

I included it on the list because there are some cool features on the app that allow your kids to earn coins for completing tasks. This is perfect for providing your kids with todo lists.

You can set fitness goals that track their activity, movement, and encourages them to keep moving. There is also a task timer that can be used for homework, reading time, timeout, or brushing their teeth.

My favorite thing is this fitness band doesn’t need to be charged. The battery lasts over a year, without needing to be charged.

  • Rewards system
  • Chores management

Cons

  • No camera
  • Need app for tracking

HuaWise Kids Smartwatch

HuaWise Kids Smartwatch

The HuaWise Kids Smartwatch is our second favorite smartwatch for kids. It offers a lot of features that we like about the other smartwatches at a lower cost. There are learning games, SOS call features, calculator, music, alarm, photos.

Like the other smartwatches on our ist, if you want to use the call function you need to purchase a SIM card. This is the only way your kids will be able to contact you from their watch.

Keep in mind, a SIM card isn’t needed for the watch to work. The other functions will work without the SIM card.

Sidenote: There is a 4G version of this watch available, but it’s not worth purchasing. I recommend buying the 2G version, as it is more reliable and the functions work better.

Pros

  • Two-way calling
  • SOS call
  • SD card included

Cons

  • Purchase SIM card
  • Charging time

INIUPO Kids Smartwatch

INIUPO Kids Smartwatch

The INIUPO Kids Smartwatch is a cheaper alternative for our favorite smartwatch for kids. This kids’ smartwatch has many of the features that you and your kids will love at an affordable price.

There is a camera, alarm clock, two-way calling, calculator, SOS call, and school mode. The school mode allows you to set restrictions during school hours, so they are not playing games when they should be doing work.

One of the best features for this kids smartwatch is the ability to save up to ten contacts. Your little one can contact family members in case of an emergency if you are not available.

Pros

  • Two-way call
  • SOS call
  • School mode
  • Parental control

Cons

BEST SMARTWATCH FOR TODDLERS & KIDS BUYING GUIDE

When looking for the best smartwatch for a toddler or an older child, there are a lot of different factors to consider. The list below provides the things that you should look for when trying to find the best smartwatch for your child(ren).

Although it is not listed, we always consider affordability in our buying guides; that is why all of the smartwatches on our list are less than $70.

Two-Way Calling

For parents looking for a cheap way to communicate with their kids while they are out and about without buying a phone, a smartwatch is a good alternative. If you would like to contact your kids on the go, you want to find a smartwatch that has two-way communication. This feature allows your child to call you or predefined contacts saved in their contact list.

To utilize this function, you will need a SIM card that includes a data plan. Many of the manufacturers recommend SpeedTalk for the US, but be sure to check if your area has service. These watches require 2G service, and it is slowly being phased out with the emergence of 5G.

SOS Calling

SOS calling allows your little one to press the power button a specified number of times, prompting the emergency number to be called. Once again, you’ll need a SIM card and data plan for this to work.

Parental Control

Parental controls are always important for you to restrict usage, set limits, or remove features. Some of the kids smartwatches have a school mode, which does not allow them to play games during times you set.

GPS Tracking

Some smartwatches allow you to track the location of your toddler. GPS tracking gives parents peace of mind when their children are away from them.

For this function to work, you will need a SIM card with an appropriate plan. This will allow you to keep an eye on your little one. A few of the smartwatches on our list have this functionality.

Easy to Use

You would think smartwatches for toddlers would be easy to use, but some brands are more complicated than others. It is important to look at the recommended ages before purchasing. Many of the smartwatches are for toddlers 4 and over, but some smartwatches can be used by toddlers as young as 2-years-old.

You also have to consider if you have an older child, you don’t want a smartwatch that is too simple. The smartwatches on our list are for toddlers as young as 2 to big kids up to 10 years old.

Durability

We all know how rough and tough kids can be with their toys. Although many smartwatches are made to withstand an active toddler, there are some things to consider.

The wristband is the most vulnerable part of kids smartwatches. Be sure to keep an eye on the wristband material you choose.

Fitness Tracking

Although fitness trackers aren’t essential, they are nice to have. You can see how active your child is being, and they prompt them to get up and start moving if they haven’t done enough activity throughout the day.

Extra Features

Having extra features is always cool, plus it keeps your little ones busy. Many of the smartwatches on our ist have games, a calculator, voice recorder, camera, flashlight, and even radio. All of these features amp up the fun factor for your kids.
