WHAT KIDS CAN LEARN FROM TRAVELING THE WORLD
I believe traveling has been invaluable for our toddler. For the last six months, he’s been attending preschool in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and loves it.
He’s been potty training, speaking Spanish, and learning more about Mexican culture. His teachers love him, and we can tell he loves them.
Today is Mexican Independence Day, so he has the day off, but he came home with the Mexican flag yesterday singing Viva Mexico.
It was so cute, especially after spending the day at school learning about the famous Mexican artist Frida. Now he’s attached to the flag and put it in his travel tent to sleep with.

QUOTES FOR PARENTS TO RAISE ADVENTUROUS KIDS
When our son was 6 months old, he used to crawl into his room to play by himself. By the time he was 9 months old, he’d go in the room and close his door to play.
That is when we learned he was an independent little guy, and we didn’t need to hover around him every second.
We watched him on the baby monitor to make sure he was safe, but he was always fine.
As a first-time mom, it was hard to let him assert his independence, but we had to do so.
I am a proud mom. Now he is 3 years old and is fearless, confident, and curious.
Our toddler is a seasoned traveler. He’s flown on nearly 70 flights, been to 5 countries, and logged thousands of miles for family road trips.
There is nothing wrong with living an unconventional life. We’ve been traveling full-time for over a year and a half, and are having the time of our life.
Whether you are heading on a family vacation or taking the plunge to travel long-term, we can all use a little inspiration.
Here are some of our favorite quotes that remind us to allow our son freedom to learn about himself.
“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.”Maya Angelou
“If you waited until you had all your ducks in a row, you’d never make a move. Sometimes you have to gather what you can and make a run for it.”Lynn Toler
“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”Winnie the Pooh
“Let the children free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and, when the grass of the meadows is damp with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning.”Dr Maria Montessori
“I understand what you’re saying, and your comments are valuable, but I’m gonna ignore your advice.”Fantastic Mr Fox
“You’ll never get anywhere if you go about what-iffing like that.”Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator
“The more risks you allow your children to take, the better they learn to look after themselves.”Roald Dahl
“Well, maybe it started that way. As a dream, but doesn’t everything? Those buildings. These lights. This whole city. Somebody had to dream about it first. And maybe that is what I did. I dreamed about coming here, but then I did it.”James and the Giant Peach
WRAP UP: ADVENTERUOUS QUOTES FOR KIDS
It was our dream to have a lie we didn’t need a vacation from, and we made it come true. The dream you have for your family, even if it isn’t travel-related can come true.
There will be naysayers but what they say doesn’t matter if you’ve decided on how to live your life. Don’t let the opinions of others dictate your path.
There is no perfect time for anything. The best time to act on your dreams is today.
What better example to set for your children than to live your life to the fullest? Despite some of the obstacles we’ve encouraged as a family, leaving our life in San Diego behind for a life of adventure was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.
Here is our all-time favorite quote for traveling with kids.
“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”Anthony Bourdain
Family travel isn’t always neat. There are going to be rough days, unexpected delays, and toddlers who are absolute monsters, but when you look back on those times there is usually a smile. I can honestly say, I’d rather go through life with regrets than what-ifs.
