We use many of these activities to survive road trips with a toddler, so we are writing from experience. All of these are screen-free, so you don’t have to worry about too much screen time for your toddler. For this post, we define toddlers as kids between the age of two and five years old.

My favorite is the Lion King version, with the special circle of life card. There is a special rule in each version, so your favorite Disney character pack may have a unique rule.

The spelling game is very similar to the counting game, especially since our little one is still young. Our toddler is starting to talk more, count, and recognize objects, so we use that as a learning opportunity. Plus, with his mom being a preschool teacher, she can’t help herself.
We start with things he can recognize and spell them out loud. He is in the learning stage, so he’s excited when he learns something new.
We are currently working on three-letter words such as ice, dog, cat, and hat. He recognizes those words, so they are easier for him to learn.
For preschoolers quizzing them on words, they recognize can be fun. To make it more fun for your preschooler, let your little one quiz you. If everyone participates, they are more likely to have fun, plus it doesn’t feel like work.

Since he’s in the beginning stages of learning, the games are simple. We say a number (1 through 9), and he says the following number, which is simple enough for a toddler that just turned w-years-old.
For toddlers or preschoolers, playing a game such as a guess, the number can be fun. Your little one has to guess the number you are thinking of between 1 and 20 with clues. You can give clues that help them with their math, such as, “I am thinking of a number that is 2 – 1”.
