TOP 5 TABLETS FOR 2-YEAR-OLDS
When I was pregnant, I had my mindset that we would not buy a tablet for our son until he was 3 or 4 years old.
I had that mindset until we discovered our son loves Sesame Street and Elmo. Elmo kept us sane for when we needed to keep him busy to get something done.

Amazon Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablet
The Amazon Fire Tablet is one of the most popular tablets for toddlers.
When we finally decided to get our son a tablet, I was set against the Amazon Fire. I was sure that it was over-priced and over-hyped because it is an Amazon product. I could not have been more wrong.
The #1 factor that places this tablet above the other tablets is the 2-year warranty worry-free guarantee.
This is perfect for toddlers because we know how destructive our little ones can be. If you have a toddler that is rough with toys this offers a lot of peace of mind.
We have the Amazon FreeTime Unlimited subscription and when we activated his tablet we got a year subscription for free. This gives him access to all of the learning videos that we play for him and games.
We like to play Sesame Street in Spanish so he can learn the language. I am a little embarrassed to admit I listen to it too, so I can learn with him lol.
Do not forget to block purchases in the settings. I didn’t notice our son ordered 3 books until 4 days after the order. Luckily, customer service is great, and refunded the purchases.
Although we did enjoy this tablet we returned it because it was too difficult for our son to hold.
We wanted him to carry and hold his tablet while walking and this was too big for his little hands. We do plan to purchase this tablet when he is a little older.
Pros
- Warranty
- Amazon FreeTime Unlimited
- Large expandable memory
Cons
- Charging port issues
- Battery drains quickly
- Bloated apps included
- Monthly app fee

Fire HD 8 Kids Tablet
We recently upgraded to the Fire HD 8 Kids Tablet because we lost the tablet he got for Christmas. Smh, I feel like an irresponsible parent, but oh well.
We gave up looking, but hopefully, it’s at my mother-in-law’s house, if not, someone got a free tablet.
Honestly, I bought this tablet during Amazon Prime Day without telling my wife. I figured it was better to ask for forgiveness, instead of permission.
She would have said he doesn’t need a new tablet, but he needed a tablet with more storage capability, more versatility, higher RAM, and a better touchscreen.
Fire 8 HD Tablet Pros & Cons
Pros
- Kids-proof case
- Higher memory
- Long battery life
Cons
Honorable Mention: iPad Mini 5
I know the iPad Mini 5 is not considered affordable, especially for a 2-year-old. Personally, I couldn’t buy this for our toddler because he likes to throw EVERYTHING.
I can’t imagine the anxiety attack I’d have if he threw an iPad. With that being said, if your toddler is over 4 this may be a good purchase.
Let’s be honest an iPad is going to be better than the tablet on this list because it’s an iPad, and Apple builds quality products.
If you are looking for longevity, iPads last forever and countless apps help your toddler learn. They can continue to use it as they get older and move on to kindergarten and beyond.
The battery lasts up to 10 hours, which means you can forget to charge it a few days and it’ll still keep going.
There is 3 GB of RAM which means everything will load fast and includes 64 GB of storage.

- Lots of storage
- Battery life
Cons
- Very expensive

OUR OVERALL RECOMMENDATION FOR BEST TABLET FOR 2-YEAR-OLD
Although we initially believed our son 1-year-old was too young for a tablet we quickly changed our minds.
We purchased recently upgraded to the Fire HD 8 Kids tablet. Our son is actually watching Word Party as I update this post.
As full-time travelers, Disney+ is our savior when we need to fly with our 2-year-old. We need a lot of space to download Booba, PJ Mask, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Jake & the Never Land Pirates, and so much more.
We like the free year of Amazon Kids, which works offline if downloaded. There is a Mickey Mouse episode that he can interact with that works offline.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST LEARNING TABLET FOR A TODDLER (UNDER 2-YEARS-OLD)
EASY TO USE
The best tablet for a 2-year-old should be easy to use. Although this may be obvious there are a few brands that have a learning curve.
It feels like kids are born knowing how to use technology these days. I was surprised our son learned how to find videos on his tablet.
After we unlock it for him, he picks the video that he wants to watch. He was able to do that within 2 months of having a tablet.
The best tablets for toddlers offer easy setup and parental controls. I did not want to spend an hour setting up his tablet or configuring the security setting.
INTERNAL STORAGE
Most kids’ tablets have a standard internal storage capacity of 16 GB. If you find a tablet above with greater memory at an affordable price, I recommend purchasing it.
Additional storage will allow you to download more apps, store additional photos, and the tablet will run a little faster.
If you cannot find a tablet with more than 16 GB do not be concerned you can purchase a Micro SD card for additional storage.
APPS AVAILABLE FOR KIDS
There are a lot of learning applications available for kids.
We researched the tablets that have preloaded content for toddlers. This will eliminate the need to search for learning games that your toddler may enjoy.
A lot of the preloaded content is enough for a few months until you find the best learning material for your little one.
BATTERY LIFE
The average battery life for a tablet is 3 to 5 hours on a single charge. If you will be using the tablet to stream a lot of videos the battery will not last as long.
Remember, do not overcharge your device, overcharging will weaken the battery. We usually charge our son’s tablet once a week.
AFFORDABILITY
Whether you’re looking for the best tablet under 150 dollar budget or can go up to one grand, you need the one that genuinely matches the requirements of your 2 year old’s requirements without breaking the bank. As parents, we know how rough and careless kids can be.
There are a lot of tablets on the market, but the price does not always reflect quality. Just because a product is more expensive does not make it superior to a lesser-known brand.
Many of the tablets designed for toddlers have programs with an ongoing cost such as Samsung, Apple, and LeapFrog.
The tablets on our list are affordable and offer preinstalled learning apps for toddlers at no additional cost.
BEST LEARNING TABLETS FOR 1-YEAR-OLDS

They are a great alternative because of their durability and affordability. These learning tablets help your baby with motor skills, learning numbers, shapes, colors, and animals.
