Babylab Toddler Sun Hat

Babylab Toddler Sun Hat

The Babylab Toddler Sun Hat is the best sun hat on our list for toddlers that need to keep cool. If you have a little one that runs hot, our little guy does, then this is the best sun hat for your toddler.

The mesh lining around the dome is perfect for keeping your little one cool on a hot day. Along with keeping your little one cool, this baby sun hat offers UPF 50 protection.

The chin strap stays in place, so if you have a toddler that likes to remove their hat, they will have a hard time with this one.

One of the drawbacks of this sun hat is the inability to adjust for toddlers with larger heads or a lot of hair.

Overall, if you are looking for a sun hat to keep your baby cool during a day at the park or a family fun day at the beach, this is the perfect summer sun hat for your toddler.

Pros

  • UPF 50
  • Breathable mesh
  • Folding buttons
  • Breakaway safety strap
  • Stays in place

Cons

  • Thin brim
  • Not adjustable

i play. Baby Sun Hat

i play. Baby Sun Hat

The i play. baby sun hat is one of the best-selling sun hats for babies and toddlers.  We also love their swim diapers for babies and toddlers.

The brim is very side, which means additional neck protection without completely covering your little one’s neck. This makes it a great sun hat for a day at the beach with your baby or toddler.

The brim is very side, which means additional neck protection without completely covering your little one’s neck. This makes it a great sun hat for a day at the beach with your baby or toddler.

The wicking liner pulls moisture away from your little one to keep them cooler longer. This is an alternative to mesh lining, so your little one doesn’t retain heat.

Overall, this is a great sun hat for babies and toddlers if you plan to spend a lot of time in the sun. The wide brim offers full coverage from the sun, so you can’t go wrong with i play.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Wicking liner
  • Very wide brim
  • UPF 50+
  • Adjustable

Cons

  • Runs small
  • Material stains
  • Can get floppy over time

RuffleButts® Toddler Sun Hat

We love the RuffleButts® brand. They have the cutest rash guards and swimsuits for babies and toddlers.

The RuffleButts® Toddler Sun Hats are as adorable as their toddler swimsuits. They match the swimsuits, so it’s the cutest little beach or pool day outfit.

The brim is very wide, so your little one’s face is well protected from the sun. The tie strings make it easy to stay in place on a windy day, especially at the beach.

Connectyle Kids Wide Brim Hat

Connectyle Kids Wide Brim Hat

I love the Connectyle Kids Wide Brim Hat for toddlers. Our son has two of these hats to match my North Face sun hat.

There are a lot of colors to choose from, so I am sure you will find something that your toddler will love. I like the neutral colors because they match everything, but there are bright colors too.

The mesh at the top of the hat allows your little one to stay cool on a hot day. We’ve used this sun hat in Tampa, and it was a lifesaver because it was HOT!!

The brim is wide, which makes it perfect for a day at the beach with your toddler.

This sun hat is adjustable, so if your little one has a lot of hair (like our toddler), you can adjust the hat to fit the circumference of their head.

The one thing I do not like about this toddler sun hat is the velcro chinstrap. I wish the chinstrap had a bead or stopper because the velcro loses grip over time.

Pros

  • Adjustable
  • Mesh to stay cool
  • UPF 50+
  • Wide brim

Cons

  • Velcro chinstrap

FAQs about Sun Hats for Toddlers

Spending the day in the Florida sun

What is the best sun hat for toddlers?

The best sun hat for toddlers depends on what you are looking for and your lifestyle.

If you plan to spend a lot of time at the beach, it is best to have a sun hat with neck protection.

For outdoor families that love to hike, a lightweight wide brim hat would be best to protect your little one from the sun.

What kind of hat is best for sun protection?

The best type of sun hat for your toddler depends on their individual needs. If you’re looking for a sun hat that will also help keep your child’s head cool, look for one made from a lightweight, breathable fabric, mesh lining, and has a wide brim.

If you’re looking for a sun hat that will provide extra protection from the sun, look for one with a UPF rating. UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor. The higher the UPF rating, the more protection the sun hat will provide.

Does my child still need sunscreen if they’re wearing a sun hat?

Yes, sunscreen is still necessary even if your child is wearing a sun hat. You need to take different actions to protect kids from the sun.

A hat does not provide complete protection from the sun’s rays. Sunscreen should be applied to all exposed skin, including the face, neck, ears, and hands.

Will sun hats keep my toddler cool?

Yes. Most sun hats have lightweight, breathable fabrics that help keep your child cool in the heat.

Many sun hats also have a wide brim to provide extra protection from the sun.

What color blocks the most UV rays?

There is no one color that blocks more UV rays than another. However, darker colors provide more protection from the sun than lighter colors.

Tip: I recommend getting bright colored sun hats for little ones. It makes them easier to spot for a small distance.
