8 Best Baby Bottles for Traveling

Sharing is caring!

Our baby was only eight weeks old when he took his first flight. One of the things we were stressing about (along with being first-time parents) was finding the best baby bottles for traveling.

Traveling with a baby means lots of stuff, but one of the most important things when traveling with a baby is feeding, which means bottles (or breasts).

I pumped and breastfed for nearly 15 months. I had to pump on the go, but certainly worth it to nourish our little guy and relieve the pain.

Traveling with breastmilk was easier than expected because we found the perfect baby bottle for traveling with our baby.

Not all bottles are created equal. When traveling, you may need to make a few adjustments to make things easier for yourself.

I pumped directly into the bottles, but that doesn’t need to be the case for everyone.

It just made it easier for me and reduced the chances of dropping my liquid gold, which we all know happens more than we’d like.

Now that our son is four years old and has been on over 120 flights, I feel confident that we’ve mastered traveling with a baby, although we’re still working through traveling with a toddler.

If you have a baby, now is the best time to travel. Things get a little more complicated when babies become opinionated toddlers with tantrums.

4 Best Baby Bottles for Traveling with Infants

If you’re a new mom traveling with your infant can feel overwhelming. You feel like you need to pack everything they might need while on the go, especially their bottles. But what are the best baby bottles for traveling with infants?

There are many different types and brands of baby bottles on the market, so it can be hard to decide which one to choose.

That’s why we’ve compiled a list of the top five baby bottles for traveling with infants. These bottles are all designed to make travel as easy as possible for parents and babies.

Whether you’re flying or driving, these bottles will help make sure your little one is happy and comfortable during the trip.

MAM Easy Start Matte Anti-Colic Baby Bottles

MAM Easy Start Matte Anti-Colic Baby Bottles

MAM Easy Start Matte Anti-Colic Baby Bottles is the best bottle for traveling with babies if you have a gassy little one.

There is a vented base design to release the liquid slowly to eliminate air bubbles and reduce gas.

The nipple mimics breastfeeding to reduce nipple confusion and increase bottle acceptance in little ones.

You do not need a sterilizer for these bottles because there is a self-sterilization feature.

Put 20 ml of water in the bottle, place the nipple inside, add the top, then microwave the bottle for up to 3 minutes.

This travel infant baby bottle is easy to clean by removing the bottom and washing it upside down.

As one of the most affordable options on our list, it is the best bottle for traveling with a newborn.

Pros

  • Microwavable
  • Self-sterilizing
  • Easy to clean
  • Affordable

Cons

  • Extra pieces to clean
  • Has to be fitted tightly

Tommee Tippee Anti-Colic Baby Bottles

eufy Baby Monitor

We used Tommee Tippee Anti-Colic Baby Bottles while traveling with our son. I used the Spectra S9 and Specta S2 to pump directly into the bottles.

We initially used Dr. Brown’s Anti-Colic bottles, but they made our little guy gassy. After that, we moved to Tommee Tippee when our little guy was eight weeks old.

There are a lot of pieces included with this bottle, but they are easy to clean, versatile, and have a heat-sensing strip.

The heat-sensing strip turns pink when your little one’s milk is too hot to put first-time parents at ease.

We used the milk storage lids for this bottle, which made it easy to travel with breast milk.

The lids made storing milk easier and cut down the need for milk storage bags, which felt like a waste.

We used plastic bottles (4 years ago), but now the bottles are available in glass and silicone.

Some parents may be concerned about nipple confusion, but we didn’t have a problem using these bottles while breastfeeding.

I recommend the silicone version. They are easier to clean and do not stain as quickly as plastic bottles.

My wife bottle-fed our baby while I rested, but it may not be the same for your little one. Every baby is different.

My one complaint about this travel bottle for infants is the bottle shape. It is a wide-brim baby bottle, so it doesn’t fit in the side pocket of most travel diaper bags.

Pros

  • Easy to clean
  • Dishwasher safe
  • Durable
  • Seat-sensing strip
  • Easy to hold

Cons

  • A lot of pieces
  • Discoloration
  • Wide do not fit diaperbag pockets

Philips AVENT Natural Baby Bottle

Philips AVENT Natural Baby Bottle

Philips AVENT Natural Baby Bottle is a bottle designed for breastfeeding babies. The nipple is drip-proof, so it simulates the breastfeeding experience.

The baby actively pulls milk from the nipple to reduce nipple confusion if you supplement feeding with a bottle while traveling.

Many parents like this bottle while traveling on an airplane because their little one can control the pace. Plus, it reduces the pressure in their baby’s ears during takeoff and landing.

If you are pumping while traveling, you can pump directly into these bottles without an adapter, if you are using a Spectra breast pump.

The capacity of this bottle is up to 11 oz., so if you are a high producer, you can pump without having to change the bottle or use breast milk storage bags.

This bottle is easy to hold, so it will grow with your little one as they go from drinking 3-4 oz. to over 10 oz.

Like many travel bottles on our list, this traveling baby bottle is too big for most insulated diaper bag pockets.

Pros

  • No-drip design
  • Easy to hold
  • Anti-colic valve
  • High capacity (11 oz)

Cons

  • Wide design

Nanobébé Flexy Silicone Baby Bottle

Nanobébé Flexy Silicone Baby Bottle

The Nanobébé Flexy Silicone Baby Bottle is one of the most popular bottles when traveling with a baby. With over 13,000 reviews and a 4.6-star rating, we had to include this popular traveling baby bottle on our list.

The Nanobébé is on our list of potential baby bottles for our next little one because it is easy to clean, has a non-tipping design, and includes quick-snap handles, which makes it perfect for traveling with a baby.

For some moms, it’s difficult finding a bottle that mimics the softness and shape of breasts, and this bottle fits the bill. The soft silicone comforts your little one while feeding, reducing the likelihood of nipple rejection if you supplement with baby formula or use a bottle while you work.

For babies that demand more milk (like our little guy), this bottle also has a version that can hold 9 oz, so it grows with your little ones.

When your little one becomes ready to transition to handles, this bottle has quick-snap handles for your baby to hold their bottles and develop their grip strength.

Like other bottles, there are different size nipples for whatever flow your little one needs. The nipples fit both Nanobébé models, so need to purchase anything extra if your baby prefers one over the other.

Overall, this is one of our favorite travel bottles for babies because it is easy to clean, quick, and flexible for little ones.

Pros

  • Easy to clean
  • 360° venting
  • Soft for baby
  • Non-Tipping Design
  • Quick-snap handles

Cons

  • Wide design for diaper bag pockets
  • Learning curve to put lid on
  • Ounces difficult to see

4 Best Baby Bottles for Traveling with Older Babies

Now that your baby is no longer an infant finding a baby bottle for traveling is easier.

Your little one is drinking more, so you need larger bottles, and hopefully, they are holding the bottles by themselves.

Here are some of our favorite bottles for traveling with babies older than six months.

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle

Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle is one of the most popular bottles for traveling with a baby.

We are considering this baby bottle for traveling with our next little one. It is one of the best bottles for traveling with babies.

We love the anti-colic vents in the nipple, which means there are no additional pieces needed for this bottle while traveling.

The anti-colic vents ensure your baby gets all the milk they need without the air. You do not want a gassy baby while traveling.

With the placement of the vents in the nipple, there are no additional pieces, which makes this baby travel bottle easy to clean.

The silicone material makes this bottle flexible and easy for little ones to grip, although it is a chunky design.

This travel bottle for babies is one of the widest on our list, so you cannot pump directly into this baby bottle, which is a bummer for moms on the go.

Many parents highly recommend this bottle for breastfed babies transitioning or supplementing with a bottle.

Remember, one of the best tips for traveling with a baby is less is more.

You do not need to bring your entire nursery. The more you pack, the better chance you have of forgetting something.

Pros

  • Durable
  • Easy to clean
  • Silicone material
  • Anti-colic vents

Cons

  • Very wide design
  • No breast pump attachments

Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Bottle

Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Bottle

For parents looking for a plastic-free option, Pura Kiki Stainless Steel Bottle is the best option for a baby travel bottle.

This travel bottle will grow with your little one. We love that this bottle is recyclable as your baby grows, which means less waste.

There is no need to purchase additional cups. As your little one grows, switch the nipple for a straw, then a spout to turn it into a water bottle.

Mix and match the different tops to accommodate little ones of all ages, and even put on a cap to protect your liquid gold.

The silicone holder makes it easy for babies and young toddlers to grip and hold.

Pura is the best travel bottle for older babies, especially if you have an active little one that throws their bottles.

Our little guy was a thrower, and a few of his bottles cracked after a few times.

These stainless steel bottles are strong enough to withstand a rough baby and toddler.

Easy remove the silicone holder to clean your baby’s bottle while traveling.

This is the perfect baby bottle for traveling families with little ones older than nine months.

Although this bottle isn’t insulated, if you have a little one that likes warm milk, consider the Pura Kiki insulated stainless steel bottle.

Pros

  • Durable
  • Grows with baby
  • Plastic-free
  • No extra pieces

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Nipples too slow

Tommee Tippee Silicone Baby Bottle

Tommee Tippee Silicone Baby Bottle

We are biased when it comes to Tommee Tippee bottles. Our son used them when he was a baby, but the Tommee Tippee Silicone Baby Bottles are new.

These silicone bottles are easy to clean, stain-resistant, durable, and easy for your baby to hold.

Many parents compare this bottle to Comotomo.

The difference between these brands is that Tommee Tippie has more capacity and is more stable than Comotomo.

There is also more variety in the accessories and nipples for this brand compared to Comotomo.

I prefer this over the anti-colic bottles for infants above because they have few pieces. We will definitely be trying this bottle for traveling with our next baby.

Pros

  • Stain resistant
  • Easy to clean
  • No small pieces
  • Easy to hold

Cons

  • Hard to see numbers
  • Accessories are expensive

Boon NURSH Pouch Bottles

Boon NURSH Reusable Silicone Pouch Bottles

I try to include something different in our buying guides to help new brands gain exposure.

Boon NURSH Reusable Silicone Pouch Bottles are unique travel bottles for older babies that I wanted to include on our list because they are different compared to the other baby bottles on our list.

With over 16,000 reviews, this travel bottle is perfect for little ones ten months or older who still drink breast milk or formula.

The silicone patch reduces your baby’s air intake while eating to avoid getting gassy.

What I love about these bags is that they can be frozen, microwaved, sterilized, and put in the dishwasher.

The pouches can be repurposed as snack containers when your little one outgrows milk.

There are no extra pieces to clean, plus the outer shell is easy for little ones to hold.

Pros

  • Easy to clean
  • Versatile
  • Affordable
  • Dries quickly

Cons

  • Cap is slippery
  • Requires preparation

Finding the Best Baby Bottle for Traveling

As a mom that has spent considerable time traveling with a baby, here are some things I look for when finding the best baby bottle for traveling.

Related Post: Best Ice Packs for Traveling with Breast Milk

Material

One of the popular materials used for baby bottles is plastic, glass, and silicone.

We highly recommend looking for a silicone bottle when traveling. They are easy to clean, easy to pack, odor-resistant, dry quickly, and do not discolor.

Although there is nothing wrong with plastic bottles, they can discolor, take longer to dry and smell awful if you cannot get to a sink to clean them.

Size

The size of your travel bottle comes into play if your little one drinks more than five ounces of milk in one sitting.

We like the wide-brim bottles because you can get a few extra ounces without the bottle leaking.

Although this may not be the case for all brands, we’ve tried a few different brands of baby bottles, and wide-brim bottles leaked less than narrow bottles.

Pieces

When traveling with kids, you want to avoid anything with too many pieces. I can tell you first-hand how frustrating it is to wash several small pieces in a hotel sink.

More pieces mean a great possibility of forgetting a piece at home or hotel, so I recommend travel bottles with as few pieces as possible.

Easy to Clean

When traveling with a baby, one of the most nerve-wracking things is cleaning bottles.

The travel bottles on our list are easy to clean on the go, mainly because they are wide-brim, which makes them easy for your hand to get inside and thoroughly clean.

Although Dr. Brown’s bottle is one of the most popular baby bottles, I didn’t include it on our list as one of the best baby bottles for traveling because there are small pieces that are hard to clean.

It’s easy for old milk to get stuck in the crevices of Dr. Brown’s bottles, so I avoid them when traveling with a baby.

Of course, we all know you do not want to switch bottles too often, so find a comparable bottle if you use this brand at home.

Versatility

When choosing baby bottles for travel, versatility isn’t the first thing to come to mind, but using a brand that can be transformed or used differently reduces the amount of stuff you need to carry when traveling with a baby.

For example, we loved the milk storage lids. They made traveling with milk easier, and we didn’t need to waste nipples, so there are fewer dishes to wash at the end of the day.
